OUR STRUCTURE
First Step Trust is a registered charity and a social enterprise, which was established in 1994, and registered in 1999.
What does First Step Trust do?
First Step Trust, in partnership with agencies and other partners, sets up projects to assist adults in gaining work skills and qualifications, with the aim of overcoming the barriers and difficulties to employment in their daily life.
The charity seeks to enable socially excluded people experiencing mental health problems and other disadvantages to have the opportunity to work and access paid employment.
What is a social enterprise?
A social enterprise is a business which operates commercially and offers services to the public, but with a twist – the profits are reinvested into a good cause.
Some examples include improving a local community, access to education or creating employment opportunities for marginalised groups.
First Step Trust, through its social enterprises, creates work experience and employment opportunities for people who need additional support to enter work.
The income generated by our social enterprises is reinvested into training and supporting more people with barriers into employment.
